The Basic Structure of Laser Pointer




Laser pointer are becoming more and more popular, boys taking one in hand will be a cool thing. But have you ever wonder what is the structure inside it? I believe everyone will have this curiosity. Almost every boy have dismantled household appliances, such as phone, video, bike, tv, even computer. We can't deny that it is a bad habit. I think it is that curiosity that promote the progress of science. So, a tiny laser pointer may also cause your curiosity to dismantled it. But as a laser player, i recommend you strongly that don't do that. It will be dangerous!

If we can't do that, what should we do to deal with our curiosity? 

Before the invention of diode, the laser pointer was made by the crystals. Different crystals can resolve different laser beam. But with the invention of diode, the laser manufacturing become simple. Especially the red laser pointer, blue laser pointer and blue violet laser pointer. It has the laser pointers own different manufacturing structure. Most of them emits light directly from laser diode. DPSS red laser pointer is normal. As for the yellow laser, it is rare in market. Yellow laser is the mixture of 1064nm and 1342nm laser so it with instability output power and low efficiency. Green laser pointer is popular but difficult to make. First, use the 808nm infrared laser excitation nonlinear crystals which can produce 1064nm infrared laser. Then through frequency doubling produces 532nm green light. Such as the attached picture.
